Crossword Puzzle Theme Synopsis
- ROMAN EMPIRE (19A: Random thing that a person thinks about all the time, in slang)
- RENEWABLE ENERGY (39A: Hydropower, e.g.)
- ROUGH ESTIMATE (55A: Ball park figure)
Each theme answer has the initials R.E.: ROMAN EMPIRE, RENEWABLE ENERGY, and ROUGH ESTIMATE.
To figure out today's theme, the title needs to be parsed in a new way. Instead of RESTART, the title is parsed as R.E. START, indicating that the theme answers are phrases with the initials R.E. I especially like the choice of theme answers today. They are all interesting and familiar phrases. Congratulations to Brad LeBeau making a USA TODAY debut! Thank you, Brad, for this interesting puzzle.
